ALL Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will continue to build on the party’s successes in the recently concluded general elections.

  Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of APGA, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo stated this during the party’s 2023 State Congress held in Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, on Tuesday.

  Welcoming delegates during an opening remark, Prof Soludo said holding the congress shortly after the recent general elections underscores his devotion to strengthening APGA’s mechanism for internal democracy in his time as the party’s national leader.

  According to Gov. Soludo, the congress was also held to provide a forum of post-election re-alignment for APGA members and key stakeholders.

  Prof. Soludo also used the congress to refute report of existence of two factions in the party, explaining that the peaceful atmosphere under which delegates conducted themselves was evidence of new brotherliness and solidarity in APGA.

  Speaking on the election of Mr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye as the party’s chairman in Anambra State, Gov. Soludo described his choice as product of the new consensus-building movement in the party, adding that it also led to Obi-Okoye’s unanimous election.

  Addressing delegates in his acceptance speech, Obi-Okoyesaid his election attests to Gov. Soludo’s keenness for recruitment of lieutenants to assist him in expanding the party’s base, particularly by restoring APGA’s reputation as a grassroots party.

It will be recalled that Mr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoyeemerged APGA Chairman in Anambra State in the just concluded state congress of the party.

  Other officers elected alongside Obi-Okoye include the state Deputy Chairman, Mr. Paul Uzor, State Vice Chairman South, Surplus Ezewuzie, State Vice Chairman North, Odinaka Azubuike Ozoechina, State Vice Chairman Central, Chief Nduka Ubi Okoye, State Secretary, Levi Obiadu, Asst. State Secretary, Ekene Nnadinma, State Treasurer, Mrs. Veronica Uche Nweke, State Asst. Treasurer, Mr. Uche Maduekwe, among others.

  The newly-elected officers all pledged to devote all of their time, skills, and resources to serving the party, shortly after the administration of the oath of office on them.

  Soludo thanked the party’s outgoing National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye, and Anambra State APGA Chairman, Sir Nobert Obi, for steering the party safely to its present height as the third largest party in the country.
