Agbodike optimistic of greater APGA under Obi-Okoye

THE Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Dr. Pascal Agbodike, has applauded the hitch-free election of a new Executive Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye unanimously returned unopposed as the new chairman of the party in the state.

                Dr Agbodike made the commendation in a press interview on the sidelines of the APGA’s state congress held at Prof Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, on Tuesday, and congratulated Chief Obi-Okoye for the landslide victory, as well as other members of the newly elected State Working Committee of APGA.

                He said the spirit of sportsmanship, brotherhood and orderliness of the exercise where fifteen chairmanship aspirants voluntarily stepped down for Chief Obi-Okoye as an eloquent testimony of the maturity and “Onye aghana nwanne ya” mantra of APGA as the best political party in the country.

                The lawmaker emphatically asserted that that APGA would wax stronger and become greater under the leadership of Chief Obi-Okoye “as a seasoned, tested and trusted” political juggernaut with vast experience, pointing out that the state recorded unprecedented progress and infrastructural development since the party took over mantle of power in 2006 till date with brighter prospects under the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

                He also appreciated the maximum support and steadfastness of the people of Ihiala Local Government Area to the party which manifested in the recent 2004 general elections which APGA won both the Senate, House of Representatives and two State Assembly seats

                Dr Agbodike expressed profound gratitude to his constituents for the mandate to the lower chamber of the National Assembly and pledged that he would strive to attract federal projects to the area, in addition to the massive grassroots development programmes of the Soludo’s administration which the people would get their fair shares.

                On the future potentials of the APGA, he maintained that the party would continue to grow from strength to strength and recalled that the successfully conducted ward, local government and state congresses elections in very peaceful and convivial atmosphere spoke volume about the functional internal democracy within the party, just as he was confident that the national congress would be done in a similar manner.
