Anambra community equips over 700 security personnel with high-tech gadgets

NDI NNEWI under the umbrella “Nnewi Concerned Citizens Vigilante” has inaugurated and equipped security personnel with high-tech gadgets as part of measures to strengthen security in the area

  The initiative championed by the Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and other concerned citizens of Nnewi is to improve the security of lives and property of the people in line with the agenda of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration.

  The event which took place at Ifeanyi Ubah stadium, Nnewi, Nnewi North Council Area, recorded equipping over seven hundred security personnel from across the four quarters of Nnewi which are, Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim and Nnewichi with gadgets to upscale their work for effective delivery.

  Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Home Land Affairs, Chief Chikodi Anara, expressed gratitude to Senator Ubah and other partners for their patriotism and love for humanity.

  The Governor emphasised that taking Anambra State to the next level requires the contribution of everyone and assured that all the necessary support will be provided by the state government.

  On his part, Senator Ubah commended the security personnel for bringing out themselves to work for the well-being of the people.

  He highlighted some of the facilities put in place to secure Nnewi to include, solar light with hidden cameras that are mounted on the streets of Nnewi, a control room with over thirty televisions, over seven hundred walkie-talkies provided to all the vigilantes, matchets, torch light, good remuneration packages, insurance to the personnel among others.

  Senator Ubah challenged them to always be active, conscious and dedicated to their duties so that crimes and insecurity will be a thing of the past in the nearest future.

  Reacting to the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi, retired, thanked Senator Ubah for all the good things he has been doing in Nnewi town and the entire Anambra South Senatorial Zone.

  In a remark, Nnewi North House of Assembly Member Elect, Honourable Augustine Ike, thanked Senator Ubah for the gesture and pledged support and commitment to the project.

  High point of the event was presentation of two Hilux Toyota and twelve Sienna vehicles and forty motorcycles to the general commander and field Marshall, quarter commanders and unit commanders.

  Present at the occasion were, the President General Nzukora Nnewi Dr MmadukaAtuenyi, Commander General Nnewi Concerned Citizens Vigilante, Mr Michael Igwegbe, and other Nnewi stakeholders.
