NO FEWER than 16 touts/illegal revenue collectors were allegedly arrested in various markets in Anambra State by the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, otherwise called Ocha Brigade.

They were said to be extorting traders of their hard earned money in some markets without regard to the state government’s directive that they should stop the touting/illegal revenue collection and fix themselves into the one man, two skills initiative of the state government for self-reliance.

Making their arrest known, the Ocha Brigade Managing Director, Comrade Celestine Anele, reiterated that the body would not relent in its effort to rid the state of miscreants who resort to extorting the traders and other people in the state.

“We will continue to arrest them until they relocate to other states or key into the Governor Charles ChukwumaSoludo’s one man two skills initiative.

“When we were about to arrest them, they assaulted our officials and we will soon hand them over to the police to be charged to court. They were arrested in some major markets in Ogidi, Nkpor, Odoakpu, Fegge, among others, over illegal revenue collection; they extorted the traders illegally,” he stated.

Recall that Governor Soludo, through the Commissioner for Youths, Patrick Agha Mba, initiated the one man, two skills initiative to make the unemployed youths to be professionals in their various skills acquisition after one year of apprenticeship.

With the programme, most youths would be busy fending for themselves and employing others to learn a trade which the state government impacted on them.
