In Abuja, maiden CAEAN lecture to be delivered by Idachaba, April 1

CATHOLIC Artistes and Entertainers Association of Nigeria (CAEAN) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, has concluded plans to organise its maiden lecture

  The lecture, which will run in series will start with Prof Armstrong Idachaba as the guest lecturer. It comes up on Saturday, April 1, 2023, by 4pm. The venue is Abuja Archdiocese CAEAN WhatsApp Group, CAEAN Abuja Forum.

  The chairman of CAEAN, Abuja Archdiocese, Mr. Patrick Nwagbo Obi, who explained why the association is organising the lecture in the virtual space said, the association is taking advantage of communication revolution to achieve a meaningful project that will stand the taste of time.

  He added that Prof Idachaba who will deliver the lecture is a seasoned scholar of Communication and Media Studies, who can impact quality knowledge on people.

  The papers that will come out of the series will be published as a book or occasional monographs, because many topics will come up in the series.

  Calling on the participants to pay attention on the day of the lecture, he said the topic is Nollywood; Faith and Limit of Creativity. The Filmic Histrionics of Catholism in Nigeria.

  According to him: “The guest lecturer,  Prof Armstrong Idachaba is a professor of Communication and Media Studies at Veritas University, Bwari Abuja; Visiting Professor to the Godfrey Okoye University Enugu; Resource Person, Training School, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Abuja; Fomer Ag. Director-General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Nigeria.”

  Commending Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku, the chaplain of Abuja CAEAN for his encouragement and support to the association, Obi explained how relevant the topic of the lecture is to CAEAN.

  He  asserted that Catholic Artistes and Entertainers Association of Nigeria is an organisation in the Nigerian Catholic Church which unifies the artistes and filmmakers in the Nollywood and entertainment industry in Nigeria.

  CAEAN engages Catholics that are talented in various arts such as: acting, singing, costume/make up, cinematography, dancing, directing,etc to help transform our cultures in the light of Gospel by promoting human dignity, justice and reconciliation.

  Urging CAEAN members to be online and participate in the lecture, Mr. Obi said the lecture will be engaging, educative and informative, because it will be an interactive session, where people can ask questions, make contributions and learn a lot on the art of Filmic Histrionics of Catholism in Nigeria and the creativity of filmmaking in Nollywood and the Catholic Faith.

  He further said the lecture promises to be a unique experience for CAEAN, because it will engage the members on issues to be adopted by Catholic film professionals to propagate the catholic doctrine through film.
