Iwuanyanwu: Osun monarch commends Ohaneze, urges Yoruba to tread gently

RELIEVED by the clarification of Ohaneze Ndigbo on the statement credited to Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, which referred the Yorubas as political rascals, the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdultroseed Akanbi, has called on the Yoruba to tread with caution, stressing that no grievances should be allowed to tear the two ethnic groups apart.
The Oluwo, who was said to be personally disturbed at the tension earlier created by the statement, commended OhanezeNdigbo for its intervention.
In a statement he personally signed, the Oluwo noted that Iwuanyanwu was misquoted and urged Nigerians to disregard the statement.
His words, “Ohaneze, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation has clarified the issue and reduced the tension created by the said statement”. “I have critically observed the video of Iwuanyanwu where he reportedly described Yoruba as political rascals and the attending clarification by Ohaneze. After a careful assessment, I noticed that Chief Iwuanyanwu was talking about the huge investment of Ndigbo in Nigeria and vowed that Igbo will never leave Nigeria.
“Also he said Yoruba and Igbo are one”.
“The foundation of his statement will be commended while condemning its weakness”. “The monarch further lauded the prompt clarification of Ohaneze, stressing that their statement is a lubricant to the unity of the country”.
“As a responsible father to the nation who has participated in the civil war, I feel and understand the pains of the Igbo and I want to assure them that I will be on the neck of President-elect to ensure that their wounds are healed”.
“Even at this fragile time when a new president is about to take over, let Nigerians comport themselves to ensure a peaceful transition”.
“I know the pains of civil war and the continuous incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu are wounds of Ndigbo. “We, Yoruba are open, hospitable and friendly to all”.
