OVER 30 Nigerians died in an orgy of killing that turned yesterday into another bloody Thursday in many parts of the country.

  While at least five people died and many more wounded after police officers allegedly opened fire at a peaceful protest demanding the return of travel documents belonging to the leader of Nigerian Islamic Movement, Ibrahim el-Zakzaky and his wife, three persons died and others injured in Ibadan as All Progressive Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members clash yesterday evening at Ile-Tuntun area of Ibadan South East Local Government of Oyo following.

  Eyewitnesses said the Kaduna tragedy happened in Badiko with mostly women and children among the casualties while a number of motorcycles and vehicles were damaged, leading to pieces of classes being scattered all over the place.

  Similarly, a source said dead victims of the Ibadan fight bodies have been evacuated to the morgue while the injured are currently receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.

  Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State, Adewale Osifeso said “the case is under investigation as we speak, further updates as regards the clash will be communicated accordingly.”

  In another development, no fewer than 17 persons have lost their lives in an auto crash at Yaura Village in Albasu Local Government Area of Kano State and along Wudil-Bauchi Road, yesterday evening.

  FRSC Sector Commander in Kano, Ibrahim Sallau Abdullahi confirmed the accident, saying three other persons also sustained injuries while one survived unhurt.

  Also, a middle aged man has been allegedly shot dead by security personnel in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

  Residents said the deceased, whose wife just put to bed, was preparing to visit her and the baby in the hospital when he was shot.

  According to them, the security officer had mistaken the deceased for a notorious cultist (popularly known as China) who he was trailing.
