Silva claims title in ITF Bengaluru

IN Bengaluru, India, Eden Silva teamed up with Bosnian, Dea Herdzelas and were unseeded. In the first round, the Brit/Bosnian drew Indian pairing, Jennifer Chacko and Mushrath Anjum Shaik. The Indians were outplayed by Silva and Herdzelas who dominated from the outset. The Brit/Bosnian secured the match in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

  The quarter-final saw the Brit/Bosnian against Amandine Hesse and Dalla Jakupovic. The French/Slovakian pair were tougher to handle in the first set. However, Silva and Herdzelas did manage to get the vital break of serve needed to take the lead. The second set saw the Brit/Bosnian dominate and move into the next round 6-4, 6-2.

  In the semi-final Silva and Herdzelas were against Japanese pair, Misaki Matsuda and Eri Shimizu. The Brit/Bosnian were held at the start of the set, before they eventually broke serve and moved ahead. Matsuda and Shimizu re-grouped in the second set and forced a tiebreak. The Japanese pair dominated the breaker and levelled up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak saw Silva and Herdzelas edge through and match 6-4, 6-7(2), 10-6.

  The final saw the Brit/Bosnian against the top seeds Francisca Jorge and Matilde Jorge. The Portuguese broke the unseeded pair serve and took the lead. however, Silva and Herdzelas re-grouped in the second set and managed to break the top seeds serve and level up the match. The ensuing match tiebreak was very close, and eventually the Brit/Bosnian edged through and took the win 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.
