A’Madrid offer Enrique three-year contract

IN A major development, as reported by Javi de la Pena of El Chiringuito TV, Atletico Madrid have sent a three-year contract offer to Luis Enrique to take over as their manager.

Enrique is currently unattached after parting ways with the Spanish national team following their early departure from the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Links with Atletico Madrid had been doing the rounds for a while, especially in the first half of the season when things were not going all too well under Diego Simeone.

“I like him a lot personally and professionally. I think he has the talent to coach any team in our league. It’s clear that he adds value for everyone. For the media, for the players, and for the clubs because he delivers. I think it’s good,” Atletico CEO, Miguel Angel Gil Marin had said in the past about Enrique.

Although things have improved for the Rojiblancos and Simeone of late, his contract with the club expires in a little over a year.

While some reports have indicated that Atletico Madrid are not looking to make any changes, Javi de la Pena is reporting otherwise and stating that the Colchoneros have already made their move for Enrique.

The 52-year-old former Barcelona boss had also commented on the possibility of taking over at the Civitas Metropolitano, saying:

“Hey, they have to love me, this is the usual. If they don’t call me… If I don’t have offers, I can’t decide. I don’t have any offers at the moment.”

With an offer now allegedly being made by Atletico Madrid, it will be interesting to see whether Enrique is willing to consider it.
