Labour Party accuses INEC, others of hijacking, rewriting election results in Ebonyi

Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Ebonyi North, Anselm Enigwe and that of House of Representatives, Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, DrEzeh Emmanuel Ezeh, have accused staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Ebonyi State, of connivance with APC to mutilate their election results.
They alleged that officials of INEC are corroborating with All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates to rewrite the entire results gotten from polling units in there area.
They disclosed this to journalists on Sunday night at the INEC Headquarters, Abakaliki.
Ezeh, who explained that an agent of APC hijacked the results of his party at the collection center, noted that he escaped assassination few days to the election.
“Yesterday, I found out that my results from Izzi LGA were mutilated. At a point, agents of APC actually took control of the collection center, but be it as it may, i still scored above 40 per cent at Izzi. Since yesterday, my results from Abakaliki are being doctored under the very nose of the Electoral Officer and Electoral Commissioner right inside their office. They have moved us from Nkaliki. After spending a whole night there, they took us to the headquarters and since yesterday till now, nothing has been done.
“But they keep mutilating, deleting and cancelling, but the fact is that I overwhelmingly defeated them in urban and entire Abakaliki. So, they have been trying as much as possible to manipulate their way in. They killed a man and wounded three persons who are hospitalised yesterday, at Izzi, where they used extreme force against us and managed to chase us out, and today, they just realised that all the manipulations they did at Izzi is not taking them anywhere because of my bulk votes in Abakaliki
“However, I wish to state that I have raised formal petition to the office of the REC and all my agents are on the run for their lives because they’re hunting them, knowing that we have all the copies of our results and can’t change it.
On his part, the senatorial candidate, Mr Anselm Enigwe, who accused INEC of shoddy job lamented that he got a report from his agents who were chased out of the collection center with two persons killed. He hinted that a Corps member who was on duty at NdieborIshiaguIgbeagu Ward 2, was shot at and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Abakaliki.
The senatorial candidate vowed to take legal action against the electoral umpire so as to regain the mandate freely giving to him by his people if they succeed in their plan to manipulate the results.
Reacting to the allegations, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ebonyi State,Mrs Onyeka Ugochi, said she had seen the petition written by candidates of Labour Party
” The way you heard it is same way I heard it, though I saw petitions filed in my office, but affected candidates who are not satisfied with the election process or outcome of the results should go to court and challenge it”, Ugochi said
