FG approves N10b for Enugu airport, others

OVER N10 billion has been approved for construction of control tower and technical building in Sam Mbakwe International Airport, Enugu, as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction of Hadejia airstrip in Jigawa State.

  The approval was made by the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, at State House, Abuja. Yesterday.

  Briefing correspondents, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika said the first lot was awarded to Messrs Mascot Associates Limited at the sum of N1, 973,606,141.75, while the Jigawa contract was awarded to CCECC at the sum of N7,482,071,196.56.

  According to Sirika, each of the two projects has a completion period of 18 months, adding that same applies to the third contract which is the procurement of utility vehicles awarded to Messrs Kaura Motors at N625,500,000.

  Also briefing reporters, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami said FEC approved three memos, National Duct One Policy, National Child Online Protection Policy and Strategy and Nigeria Data Protection Bill.

 He explained that the National Duct One Policy aims to institutionalise providing ducts during construction in Nigeria, at federal, state and even local government.
