Prospective voters lament lNEC officers’ lackadaisical attitude to PVCs collection in Awka

AS THE 2023 general elections prep, voters have shown keen interest to participate actively in the exercise. However, a good  number of them have lamented the ill-response from lNEC officials especially at the Agu-Oka Ward.

Several eligible voters have cried out calling for  the PVCs collection deadline to be extended because officers of the electoral commission have not shown professionalism in their duties. One Ephraim(surname withheld) was amongst those who shared their grief. He  said he has been coming for three days consecutively but never got to be served the PVC,

“I took permission from my MD last Tuesday. I spent the whole day waiting for INEC officials, who arrived late around 12pm. They didn’t attend much to us. I had to leave and come another day hoping to be among the first in the list. Today, makes it my third attempt of coming to Ukwuorji, Perm Site yet nothing to show for it.”

Another voter, Comfort( surname withheld) a 72-year-old woman lamented the hazels of obtaining her PVC compared to her age. According to her, she has consistently been denied attention due to the lackadaisical attitude of the officials who either come later after she has gone home to rest or leave so early before she arrives.

The deadline of the PVCs collection was originally shifted from 21st January to 29th January. However, many eligible voters are yet to collect their PVCs based on various circumstances.
