National Light reporter, IzunnaOkafor buries father

THE remains of the late Mr. Josephat Okafor Udeze has been committed to  mother earth in his hometown, Umuonyeukpa Village, Ebenator, in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

  Aged 70, Mr. Udeze, who died on November 10, 2022, after a brief illness, was survived by his wife, Mrs. Susan Udeze, and four children, among whom is Izunna Okafor of  Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation (ANPC).

 Speaking at the well-attended burial service, the officiating priest, Pastor Ntukokwu, who hailed the deceased as a man of peace and integrity, advised  mortals to live with eternity in views and always be prepared to meet the Lord, as no one knows when his creator will call him home.

   He also reminded the people that every man must be impartially judged according to their deeds on earth, be it good or bad, hence the need to live a righteous life. 

 The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD, who led other journalists to condole their colleague, Izunna Okafor, noted that death is inevitable and advised every human to live a worthy life. He prayed for the eternal repose of Pa Okafor and asked Izunna to emulate his father.

“We thank God for the life of Pa Okafor, he was a respected gentleman that served his people until death. Izunna and his siblings should take heart. Above all they should emulate their father’s legacy,” he said. 

  Editor, National Light Group of  Newspapers, Mrs Rose Oranye, while  consoling Izunna Okafor, asked him to see his father’s death as a natural transition that should be utilised in entrenching whatever legacy his father laid.

She prayed that God will give the family fortitude to bear the loss and make the family more united.

 Speaking  on the life and personality of his father, the second son of the deceased, Izunna Okafor, who is a journalist and writer, described the  late Josephat Udeze as a noble man who could sacrifice anything for peace, and from whom he learnt charity, persistence, cheerfulness, diligence, and other principles of life that have helped him stand out in the society.

While noting that his father would be dearly missed by all who came across him, he prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul, while also appreciating everyone who came to commiserate with the family.
