Air crash kills 18, injure many in Ukraine

EIGHTEEN persons including Ukraine’s Interior Minister,, Denys Monastyrskyi, other senior ministry officials and three children were killed when a helicopter crashed in rovary near a nursery school outside Kyiv, the country’s capital, yesterday morning.
After the crash, a fire broke out close to the school, hence pupils and staff were moved away, with wreckage from the helicopter visible outside a burning building.
The head of Ukraine’s national police, Igor Klymenko, confirmed the incident.
According to him, apart from the 18 fatalities, the air crash also left 29 persons injured.
It will be recalled that the 42-year-old minister was a prominent member of President Volodymy Zelensky’s cabinet and played a key role in updating the public on casualties caused by Russian missile strikes since Ukraine was invaded in February 2022.
