Civil Society lauds Soludo for demanding Kanu’s release

…Urges unity among S’East leaders to fight insecurity
A group under the aegis of Southeast Resilience and Support Group (SERSuG), a coalition of concerned stakeholders for social and economic development of the Southeast Geopolitical Zone has lauded the governor of Anambra state, Charles ChukwumaSoludo for calling for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB),.Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Coordinator of the group, Prince Chris Azor, in his interaction with newsmen, said Governor Soludo has exhibited uncommon courage and leadership capacity by demanding unconditional release of the IPoB leader and consequently volunteering to stand surety for him.
According to Azor, the federal government has no more legal and moral justification to continue keeping Kanu in detention after the Court of Appeal discharged and acquitted him of all charges of terrorism and now that such eminent Nigerian has accepted to stand surety for him.
“Releasing Nnamdi Kanu is the first condition for restoring lasting peace and security in the southeast Region, especially as we steadily approach the general election. Since Governor Soludo has volunteered to have him released with the responsibility to produce him on demand, I see no further justification for his continued incarceration”, he said.
He further called on leaders of the Southeast Region to come together in brotherhood and solidarity as one people, to fight the monster of insecurity that has arrested the development of the zone and advised that Governor Soludo be given the opportunity to drive the peace process looking at his intellect, uncommon courage and enthusiasm to ensure peace and prosperity of ndi Igbo and Nigeria at large.
