Jigawa approves new minimum pension rate

Jigawa State Governor,  Muhammad Badaru Abubukar has approved the implementation of the new negotiated revised minimum monthly pension of  N12,000 in the state.

This was disclosed by the State Head of the Civil Service, AlhajiHussaini Ali Kila.

The Head of Service explained that with this approval, his office is now empowered to implement the upward adjustment according to the approved template.

He added that the increase of the new pension payment would start from January, 2023, and explained that although the new minimum pensions will increase the wage bill of Jigawa State, the state government believes that it is important to let pensioners receive decent pensions.

He said a circular indicating the pension increase for pensioners would be issued to all relevant stakeholders for immediate implementation with effect from January, 2023.

“I thank all stakeholders and our patient pensioners for bearing with the processes that have finally culminated in the successful conclusion of the matter.

“I look forward to a more proactive and seamless implementation of subsequent increases in the future so that our senior citizens who served their country enjoy the fruits of their labour from a grateful Jigawa State,” he said.
