Anambra Housing Corporation fetes senior citizens for meritorious service

Anambra State Housing Development Corporation (ASHDC) has honored its former managing directors and the retired staff members with awards and different valuable household items with cash prizes respectively in appreciation for their meritorious services to the corporation and the state.

This came during a sendoff organised by the corporation to recognise the services and contribution of the ex-managing directors and ex-staff members, at its headquarters in Awka, recently.

Speaking during the occasion, the incumbent Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASHDC, ChikeAnyaonu, said, the august event was not just a ceremony to appreciate the senior citizens, but also a gathering of kinsmen in the spirit of brotherhood.

Reeling off the reasons for the event, Anyaonu said: “Moonlight play in Igboland, they say, can be enjoyed from every person’s home; but for the joy, love of togetherness by kinsmen, essentially is the reason why we are here.

“However, we usually meet with everyone individually from time to time; but this epoch-making event today, gives us joy and opportunity to enjoy special attention and sit together to celebrate and say thank you to all of you, the fine brains that nurtured this corporation to the standard we met it today”, he noted.

He expressed satisfaction for the progress and level of development the corporation continues to witness, and gave thanks to God, whom he said, that made it possible.

Responding, the former managing directors, Arc EmekaAguluka, Arc Mike Nwafor, among others, expressed joy and appreciation to the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anyaonu, and the entire staff members of ASHDC, for coming up with an occasion like this, and suggested for its continuity.

They went down memory lane of a transition period of the state from the old Anambra as it concerns ASHDC, and emphasised the importance of conviviality, love among the staff members, advising them to serve dedicatedly to leave a legacy that will stand the taste of time.

Also, retired directors, Estate Services and Audit and Corporate Affairs Departments of ASHDC, Paul Obiorah and Tony Onyeneke, respectively excitedly lauded the ongoing digital innovation in the corporation, even as they expressed belief that the corporation would continue to grow to greater heights.

In a vote of thanks, one of the former managing directors, Greg Asoegwu, represented by Dr May Asoegwu, thanked the management and the entire staff of ASHDC for the recognition, adding that it had pacified the senior citizens, who eagerly desired such for long after bowing out of service.

The event, which was more of a reunion among  brothers, came to climax with excitedly majestic group dance like no other by the senior citizens with the management and the staff of ASHDC, including the state government functionaries, who graced the occasion, among others.
