It was a moment of panegyrics and fanfare in Awka, Anambra State capital, as Nigeria’s largest indigenous manufacturer of mattresses and pillows, the Winco Foam Industries unveiled the newest brand of its product and the company’s new logo.
Held together with the company’s Stakeholders Forum, the unveiling, which was witnessed by the channel partners and customers and customers of Winco Foam, also featured the announcement of Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo as the company’s new Brand Ambassador.
Speaking at the event, the Founder, Winco Foam Industries, Chief Godwin Ifeanyichukwu Okafor, who gave an overview of the company’s journey so far, described the poor business environment as one of the major challenges confronting businesses and investors in Nigeria.
The Anambra-born industrialist said that Nigeria’s unfavourable business environment is also part of the major reasons behind the incessant hikes in prices of items, as many investors resort to finding alternative ways to sustain their businesses and industries, which, in turn, reflect on the prices of their products.
He therefore, called on the federal government and the governors of the 36 states in the country to create enabling environment that will enhance the thriving and growth of local and foreign investments and investors in the country.
Recounting the successes and improvements so far recorded by the Winco Foam Industry over the last four decades of its existence, Chief Okafor further highlighted some of the various strategies the firm has put in place to remain at the top as the number-one foam brand and customers’ first choice in the country, irrespective the various challenges associated with doing business in Nigeria.
“After over years of our existence, the firm thought it necessary to rebrand to offer our customers better services.
“Winco began in 1976 and was incorporated in 1983. We started at a period when the foam was scarce and those in production of mattresses were few. But what we see today is a huge improvement from what was obtainable then,” he said.
While calling on the government at all levels to support and patronize indigenous firms; Okafor revealed that his firm and all its brands are wholly indigenous, while also assuring his customers of more quality products and uncompromised standard in all their brands.
On his own part, the Country Brand and Business Development Manager of the company, Mr. Oluwole Ntia said the program was primarily aimed at meeting and interacting with the company’s product dealers and distributors, to find out the challenges they encounter in marketing the Winco Foam products and what people say about the products, so as to enable them to evaluate how the firm and her products have felt over the year and set a path for the new year.
On the inspiration behind the rebranding and the change of the company’s logo, Mr. Ntia said the firm has added a lot more figure, values, focus and target into the brand.
“If you visit our website, www.wincofoam.com now, you will discover that there is log for Education, meaning that we’re no longer just selling only mattresses, but also sell sleep solutions to our customers, as they can now find out and get educated on the best kind of sleep solution that suits them,” Ntia revealed.
Continuing, he said, “Also, our colour use to be yellow and green. But now, our colour is red, white and grey. Red stands for blood, and you know that blood flow in your body if you are alive. So Winco Foam is alive and vibrant.
“The white represents transparency, which means that all our processes are pure, and that is why our goods are of international standard. Then, you have the grey, which stands for strength. Yes we are local brand, which means we are black; we are also of international standard, which white represents; and it is the combination of the two that gave rise to grey.
Ntia further hinted that the firm’s decision to rebrand is not unconnected with its efforts to remain at the top in the competitive market, while others follow.
While revealing that the customers can now buy Winco Foam products online on the company’s website; he added that the company has also introduced Matrass Swap, for swapping of old Winco Foam mattresses of their customers in exchange for new ones; as well as Pay Small Small, which entails selling of the Winco Foam products to their customers on payment by installment, among many other innovations that have taken place in the company in recent time.
In their separate remarks, some of the Winco Foam distributors and channel partners, Anthony Nwozugha, Tobias Nnenna, John Nwosu and others participants at the event hailed the Winco Foam for its quality products and services to the customers over the years. They also individually highlighted the various challenges they encounter in marketing the different sizes and brands of the Winco Foam products; which the Management of the firm duly noted and pledged to work on.
The event featured cutting of cake cakes decorated with the company’s new logo as a symbolism of the unveiling, among other side attractions.
