Women… agents of change – Ibezim



ANAMBRA State Deputy Governor, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has stressed the importance of women in the growth of any society.

  Dr Ibezim, who made the remark during the maiden edition of Anambra Sate International Women Conference, at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka,  described women as political and moral change agents, affirmed that there are great women of integrity, who made significant impact on the world, and advised the younger generation to look up to them as role models.

  While noting that there is a paradigm shift in university education, as it is no longer just a pathway to becoming what one studied, but also a step that exposes one to a variety of life opportunities, Dr. Ibezim also advised them to vote wisely in the 2023 general elections for a better Nigeria as the change agents they are.

  Also speaking, the Commissioner for Transport, Patricia Igwebuike, stated that the journey of a woman is challenging, and as such, women must be deliberate in order to reach greater heights.

  Igwebuike urged women to invest in themselves by acquiring skills and knowledge in order to be real change agents.

  A captain of industry, Mrs. Diana Ndigwe,  an inclusivity advocate, Mrs. Eucharia Onyemobi, and a philanthropist, Chief EmekaIgwe, who were among the speakers at the event, described women as global change agents.

The conveners, Miss Augusta Ukoha and Dr. Ucheaku Soludo said their desire is to make the conference an annual event as they thanked everyone that attended the event.

  The event was organised by the National Female Students Association of Nigeria, in collaboration with Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, with ‘Women as Global Change Agents”’as its theme.
