LG workers urged to innovate change

FOLLOWING the instruction of the governor of Anambra State,  Charles Chukwuma Soludo to sanitise the entire local government system and make it governable, the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission,Awka, Chief Vin ifeanyi Ezeaka, with members of the board visited Njikoka and Awka North Local Government Areas.

  In his speech, the chairman  made known to the workers that the system need a change , transformation and  a unified local government to enable it function appropriately.

  He stated that the government operating now need clear attitudinal change,  saying that the government will employ technocrats and experts that will do their job if there was no change from them.

  Ezeaka said that the governor mandated payment of revenue to council account rather than receiving of cash by hand.

  He encouraged heads of local governments to live by example for the junior workers to emulate them, by avoiding lateness to work, absenteeismand truancy.

  He promised of rewarding the best staff, giving them proper orientation and sharing commissioners to the LGS that will monitor the performance of workers.

  The chairmen of the local governments, Clem Aguiyi of Njikokaand Awka North’s  Emmanuel Ucheze, thanked the chairman  with his entourage for the formalisation visit and advised workers to put in their best and key into the vision of Prof. Charles Soludo for the betterment of the council.

  The local governments’Heads of Administration, George Obumselu and Mr Linus Iwuchukwu thanked the commission for the visit and enumerated challenges confronting the  councils such as good  accessible roads , lack of remuneration to workers, lack of  training and seminars , provision of potable water and health care facilities to the community.

  Branch Chairman,  Nigeria  Union of Local Government Employees ( NULGE), Njikoka LGA,  Com. Obinna EzeOnye said they are solidly behind the government of Prof Charles Soludo.

  The visit attracted Member 1,AzubuikeOkoye,Member 2,MrUchennaOkafor, Member 3, Prof Ngozi Egwuim, Member 4, Mrs AnthoniaTabasiOkoye,  Secretary, HLGA, Local Government Service Commission , Stan Nwattah.
