Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) led by its national president Titus N. Akpudo has donated truckloads of cassava stem cuttings to victims of the recent flood disaster in Anambra State.
The stem cuttings amounting to hundreds of bundles were delivered and distributed to local farmers in fulfilment of the promise made by the association to the beneficiaries when ASATU delegation led by its leader, Akpudo visited them at various IDP camps. While donating food stuffs, and other essential needs to the displaced persons, ASATU promised to also supply them with cassava stem cuttings when the flood recedes to enable them restart planting and to rebuild their livelihoods.
The cassava stem cuttings were delivered to the people by a delegation of ASATU members led by the firast National Vice President of ASATU, Prof. Charles Nwadigwe.
The beneficiaries who were visibly happy thanked ASATU for their kindness responsiveness to the needs of the people at the grassroots. The beneficiaries prayed for God’s blessings on the association and its members. They also enjoined other organisations to emulate the commendable gesture of ASATU. The presidents-general of the affected communities were also present during the handover ceremony.
