A 45-year-old man, one Segun Omotosho, has allegedly beaten his wife, Olubukola Omotosho, to death in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Police said the man beat the woman to death over her refusal to allow him take over a private school belonging to her.
The man was arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, following a complaint lodged at the Kemta divisional headquarters by the deceased’s elder sister.
According to police spokesperson in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the victim was beaten and seriously injured by her husband, who later rushed her to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba Abeokuta for medical attention where she gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.
“Unknown to the husband, the deceased had sent a voice note to her family members, informing them that her husband has used a padlock to hit her on the head while beating her, and that if she died, they should be aware that it was her husband that killed her. Preliminary investigation revealed that their incessant quarrel was because the deceased built a private school in the name of herself and the husband, but the husband who is a carpenter had wanted to take over the control of the school but the deceased who was an NCE graduate refused,” Oyeyemi said.
According to Oyeyemi, her husband fled immediately the voice note was played to his hearing but was subsequently traced to Akinseku village, Abeokuta where he was promptly apprehended.
