PORTUGAL head coach, Fernando Santos is sweating over fitness of Porto goalkeeper, Diogo Costa before their friendly against three-time African champions, Nigeria.
Costa missed the last two training sessions held by the Portugal national team, on Monday and Tuesday, as a result of muscular pains and it remains to be seen whether he will man the post today.
Twenty five of the twenty six players named in Portugal’s World Cup squad, including Cristiano Ronaldo, trained on Tuesday under the guidance of Fernando Santos.
Costa, 23, has earned seven caps for the Portuguese national team since making his debut in October 2021.
Experienced Roma glovesman, Rui Patrício and uncapped Wolverhampton Wanderers star, José Sá are the other goalkeepers in the Portugal squad and one of them is likely to be in goal against Nigeria.
Nigeria will take on Portugal at the Estádio José Alvalade, in Lisbon today, November 17, at 7:45pm Nigerian time.
