A PRESSURE group under the aegis of Integrity Group has lent its support to Governor Soludo’s submission on the 2023 election that Ndigbo should use the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a platform to build a strong force.
In a statement signed by the National Co-ordinator,EvaristusNwokoye and Secretary, Mrs. Chinwe Ifediba in Awka, the group said Soludo’s verdict on Peter Obi’s presidential ambition was not an indication that he was not a patriotic Igbo man or that he hated Peter Obi.
“Ndigbo are known for their disposition to support any political party of their choice. The same in the South South, South West, even in the entire Northern Nigeria. Politicians choose to belong to parties of their choice and there has never been any reason whatsoever to bully others who have contrary view”.
“There is no way an APGA presidentail candidate could step down for Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi”
“APGA is the third largest party in Nigeria. Labour Party is one that has played substitute roles for aspirants who failed to secure nomination in the frontline parties”.
They noted that Soludo has on several occasions, urged Peter Obi to return to APGA which made him what he is but he turned down the offer”.
According to the group, in Nigerian politics, the number of votes so far pulled by the South East with the least registered votes have never been enough for any presidential candidate to win or lose a presidential election. They noted that Ndigbo as a people should use APGA as a platform to build a strong force.
“Again, it will be difficult if not impossible for the South East alone to vote Peter Obi as president”.
“The continuous internet mob action against the person of Soludo is uncalled for and very unreasonable. Other regions have homogeneity that cannot be compared with what we have in the South East”.
