TO ENSURE best international sports standard, Delta State Government has imported Birmingham Common Wealth Games tartam track for Stephen Keshi Stadium in preparation of Delta 2022 National Sports Festival scheduled from November 28 to December 10.

National Light gathered from the organisers that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has imported the topmost quality at the Birmingham 2022 Common Wealth games in England, to be installed at the stadium.

According to the organisers, the sports festival tagged Delta 2022, “will go as scheduled as all major arrangements have been perfected.

A joint technical meeting involving the main organising committee (MOC) and other stakeholders of the event was held in Asaba last weekend.

We gathered that in 2018, when Delta State hosted the Senior African Athletics Championships, a new terrain was installed at the stadium but some athletes complained of the turf.  “Based on the complaints, the governor has gone ahead to provide the best. Now Okowa doesn’t want any complain. He has imported the same type and quality of tartan track used for Birmingham 2022 Common Wealth Games in England”.

“I am convinced our athletes will set more national record at the Delta 2022 National Sports Festival”.

“Apart from this, Okowa is putting in place two brand new indoor walls for games just as the old indoor hall is being renovated”.

Meanwhile, Sports Minister, Sunday Dare said that Asaba 2022 would go down in history as a great show piece in Africa.
