…Eulogise late elder statesman

NIGERIANS from all walks of life are mourning the death of Nigeria’s first Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi with a Federal Executive Council (FEC)weekly meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, observing a minute’s silence in honour of the late elder statesman, who died on Tuesday, aged 92.

  Describing Amaechi’s death as an irreplaceable loss to the nation, Osinbajo condoled the people and Government of Anambra  State, urging them to find solace in Amaechi’s contribution to socio-economic and political development of Nigeria.

  Similarly, Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and members of Anambra State House of Assembly yesterday mourned Amaechi’s death.

  Speaking in his condolence message, Gov. Soludo expressed his sadness over Amaechi’s death, describing him as an outstanding patriot and nationalist who served the nation diligently.

  Gov. Soludo further explained Amaechi’s death as not only a loss to his family, community, Nnewi South Local Government Area and Anambra State but also a monumental loss to Ndigbo and the entire Nigerian nation.

  Also, describing his death as a loss during a plenary session of Anambra State House of Assembly, Speaker Uche Okafor said Amaechi was a patriot and true nationalist.

  The late Chief Mbazulike Amaechi was an articulate and quintessential elder statesman who served the nation diligently. His death is therefore a great loss to Anambra and the country. 

  “The Anambra State Assembly condoles with the family, Nnewi South constituents, the people of Anambra and Nigeria over his death.

  “We pray that the late Chief Amechi’s soul would rest in peace. And we also pray that God would grant the family the strength and fortitude to carry on,” he said.
