2023 elections’ll  be credible – INEC assures S’East

Following fears of insecurity and unethical conduct of 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured the people of South East of its preparedness to conduct a free and credible election.

The assurance, which was made known by INEC at the capacity building workshop for voter education providers in South East Zone in Enugu, indicated that it has strategised effectively for sustainable democratic dividend.

INEC’s Administrative Secretary,  Nwafor Chidi noted that for the sustainable democracy to be relevant there must be free, fair and credible election.

“The essence of effective and efficient electoral process cannot be overemphasised as it constitutes delivery of successful election in this 21st century and technology age. Hence, the need to ensure credibility always.

“The workshop had come at a time when it became important to address the rising scourge of voter’s apathy especially with collection of voters’ card ongoing”.

According to Nwafor, who was represented by the HOD, Voter Education and Publicity, Rex Achumie, the training would embolden groups of interest even to give them desired knowledge and confidence.

He urged participants to pay full attention and contribute their diverse experience from their various field of studies for discussions, stressing that the commission applied to their development partner, the UNDP for putting together the enlightenment and inspiring workshop.
