A forum for former students’ union leaders, with the name, Anambra State Comrades Association (ASCA), has presented a researched-generated policymaking document to the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, as part of its support and contribution to the development of the state.

This came as the members of the association along with their guests converged at Golphins Hotels, Awka, last weekend, to mark its three years in existence.

While presenting the executive summary of the document before the members of the association and their guests, a professor of Political Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Frank-Collins Okafor, described the document as “a paradigm shift from the usual character of policy suggestion in the state.”

According to him, “the position paper speaks on specific issues with a view to finding solutions in line with global best practices.”

Okafor, who is the reviewer of the policy document, held the guests spellbound as he narrated the content of the document sagaciously, expressing optimism that an honest implementation of the recommendations of the document will go a long way in finding lasting solutions to decadent academic curriculum and worrisome rate of youth employment in the state.

He, therefore, called on Governor Soludo, to leverage the unique proves of the document to come up with solutions to these and other problems facing the state.

He commended the members of ASCA for coming up with such valuable document, adding that this marks them out as a people, who refused to be counted among the monumental failures of their time.

Receiving the document, the state Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Ude, who was represented in the occasion, by Dr Brown Ude, said that Soludo’s administration remains resolute in transforming the education sector in the state, and assured that the document would be delivered to her principal.

Commending the association for its laudable achievement within a short period of existence, the Soludo’s aide urged the former students leaders to lead right as leaders of today and tomorrow with the view to disapprove the generally hold belief that young people lack a prerequisite experience to handle a leadership position of larger society.

Also, the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Entertainment, Leisure and Tourism, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, and the Managing Director, Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Chido Obidiegwu, who were discussants on the theme of the event, “Youths & the Quest for a Redefined Nigeria..,” hinted on the domineering position of youths in entertainment and media industries, and advised the ASCA members to leverage it to patriotically redefine Nigeria’s image before the wider world.

Earlier in his welcome address, the convener of the event, Comrade Collins Okelue, outlined the reasons for the event which include charting a new course of action towards cultivating a formidable support system for better Anambra and Nigeria, especially now the 2023 general elections are around the corner.

He expressed the association’s resolve to sustainably support the vision and goals of Soludo’s administration, on the area of youth economic empowerment and development.
