FLOOD victims of Bayelsa State had, Tuesday, received truckload of food and non-food item as relief materials from the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
The administrator, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Mr Freston Akpor, said that PAP undertook a needs assessment of the victims with Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency before procuring the items.
While delivering the items, the interim administrator of PAP, Maj. Gen. Ndiomu, through his aide assured of the concern of the programme to cushion the adverse impact of the floods on the Niger Delta region, hence its intervention.
The items donated included bags of rice, beans, garri, pepper, noddles, mosquito nets, disinfectants and drinking water.
Mr Wallaman Igrubia, Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency’s Chairman received the items on behalf of Bayelsa Government, applauded the Amnesty Office for its kind disposition to victims of the natural disaster. He furthered noted that the scale of the disaster was beyond the capacity of the state government and appealed for more assistance from the federal government, corporate and other organisations.
