I want to leave legacy of peace, unity, progress– Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okumade 11, has said he wants to leave a legacy of peace, unity and progress in Ibadan land.

Speaking to journalists at the weekend in Ibadan, the royal father stated that he wants to be remembered with the above sterling qualities which have helped him in life.

Oba Balogun, a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the Fourth Republic, who will be celebrating his 80th birthday on Tuesday, noted that as a way of bringing peace to Ibadan land, he was working towards the stoppage of land grabbing.

He informed that the process of bringing peace, unity and progress started immediately he ascended the throne on March 11, 2022.

Commenting on how he feels attaining the octogenarian age, he gave all the gratitude to God who has always been his guide.

On his relationship with the Oyo State Government, Oba Balogun said that he has good rappour with the current administration in the state, stressing that in matters of politics, as long as one is law abiding, negative incidence between government and the monarchy would not arise. Politics according to the monarch, is all about ideas and progress of society.

The Olubadan underscored the importance of good character and intellect in the development of the individual and society.

Recalling his ascension to the throne of Ibadan, Oba Balogun opined that it was a sweet-bitter experienced and charged all to always leave every situation in God’s hands.

He also intimated newsmen of progress in the construction of the new Olubadan’s palace, which he said is near completion.
