Again, gunmen kill four policemen in Enugu, set station ablaze

FOUR policemen on duty were shot to death when unknown gunmen attacked a police station in Inyi, Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
A resident of the community said the hoodlums also set the station ablaze after carting away caches of arms and ammunition.
“Actually, I left the community on Saturday for Enugu, but I got information from my community a few hours ago that gunmen attacked the police station in my town, and that they killed one police officer. Right now, I don’t have further details,” he said.

The attack on Inyi Police Station came as security alert recently trended on social media platforms in Enugu State capital, warning residents of the area and environs to be careful and be security conscious while they move around.
“Warning! Achi, Inyi, Oji River, Ufuma, Umunze, Ajalli, Arondizuogu, those axes are facing security challenges, Ngwo people, let’s always be security cautious and avoid night movement, above all, always commit to the Almighty,” the post reads.
Efforts to get the reaction of the state police command on the incident were not successful as the command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, could not take his calls or respond to a text message sent to him.
