2023: We’ve tackled ballot stuffing, snatching — INEC

NIGERIANS have been assured that there will be room for ballot paper stuffing and box snatching all over the country by thugs or anybody during the 2023 general elections.
Administrative Secretary of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kaduna State, Alhaji Muhammed Mashi, gave the assurance when members of Integrity Group for Better Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit, yesterday.
Explaining that INEC has laid machineries in place to adequately render such practices impossible, Mashi said Nigerians would be surprised and happy about the smooth conduct and outcome of the forthcoming general elections across the country.
According to him, state offices have received both sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the elections next year.
In another development, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari, has revealed that he was contacted to be the running mate of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, but he rejected the offer.
Shagari made the revelation during a chat with newsmen, yesterday.
According to him, as a chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he strongly believes that the Labour Party cannot defeat the PDP at any election.
