Five family members die overnight in Enugu community

AMUTENYI village of Obollo-Afor in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State has been thrown into mourning following the death of five family members in the community.

  Residents say they died in the sleep after going to bed on Saturday night but did not wake up.

  According to them, those involved are a woman, her two children and her two sisters who visited her.

  Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Enugu State Command, Daniel Ndukwe, identified the victims as Mrs. Chinyere Odoh, her two children, Udochukwu Odoh and Chukwuemeka Odoh as well as her two sisters, Martina Ezeme and Ngozi Ezeme who visited her.

  According to Ndukwe, Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Ahmed Ammani has ordered investigation into the matter.

  “Their lifeless bodies were found in two separate rooms they slept in when police operatives from the Udenu Police Division of the command, who swiftly responded to a distress call to the incident, forced open the doors of the rooms. They were immediately moved to a hospital and confirmed dead by doctors on duty, and their corpses deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy,” he said.
