2023: S’East women ‘shutdown’ Imo for Tinubu

…I’ll vote against same faith ticket – Cardinal Onayiekan
…PDP, Wike meeting ends in deadlock
OWERRI, the Imo State capital, literally stood still for South-East women drumming support for All Progressives Congress (APC)’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Senator Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Alh Kashim Shettima.
The rally which took place at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, saw women gathered in large numbers, dressed in colourful attires while their leaders took turns addressing the crowd and urging them to vote en masse for the party’s candidate.
Speaking during the event, South-East Women’s Coordinator for APC Presidential Campaign and Wife to Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Chioma Uzodimma said the rally was a preamble.
In another development, Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan has vowed to vote Tinubu, describing it as a product of his opposition to APC’s same faith presidential ticket.
Onaiyekan dropped the bombshell while speaking during the 1st synod of Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, Osun State, yesterday.
Explaining Tinubu-Shetimma ticket as a political decision based on a calculation to win votes, he said urged churches to present facts about the matter to people, who will then take their own political decisions.
Similarly, hopes of finding a truce in the crisis rocking People’s Democratic Party (PDP) were dashed as the peace meeting of its Board of Trustees (BoT) and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike ended in deadlock.
Although the almost four-hour closed door meeting in Government House, Port Harcourt, ended at about 4:35 pm as the attendees came out smiling and exchanging banters before newsmen, Acting Chairman of PDP BoT, Senator Adolphus Wabara, who briefed newsmen said no conclusion has been reached.
