Anambra traders laud Soludo’s road projects



… Pledges support for tax policies
… Solicits attention to Nnewi Timber Market Rd

TRADERS in Building Materials Market Nnewi have lauded ongoing road projects that were flagged off in many communities of Anambra State by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.

The commendation was given by outgoing chairman of the traders’ association, Chief Uzochukwu Anyadiegwu, while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of new caretaker committee executives of the market.

Expressing their delight over the projects, Anyadiegwu said the roads will help customers to easily come to markets and open up the state for local and international investors.

Anyadiegwu also hoped that the new government led by will surely deliver its campaign promises to ndi Anambra.

Continuing, Anyadiegwu said that the road projects will also encourage traders to support the state government’s tax policies since it is designed to catalyse economic development.

In his speech, Nnewi Zonal ASMATA Chairman Chief Edward Muozom tasked the new officers to ensure that government revenue is paid promptly so that basic infrastructure will be provided.

He called on the State government to intervene and provide good roads in Nnewi so that market/ business activities would not be crippled because of bad roads.

Muozom also warned the executives to work cooperatively to promote the market economy, and to avoid issues that could lead to petition writing or violence.

Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Commerce and Industry, Mr. Eloka Maduekwe advised the new executives to work for the progress of the market, and should not see the appointment as a money making venture or an opportunity to defraud traders.

Meanwhile, the traders have called on the state government to also commence work on Timber Market Road in Agbo Edo Nnewi before it is totally cut off.

According to them, the road which was built four years ago has collapsed, serving Timber (Ogbor Osisi) Market Agbo Edo, Building Materials Market, Spare Parts Market, Nkwor Nnewi and others.
