Imo Assembly Speaker impeached

…New Speaker sworn in

MEMBER Representing Ehime Mbano in Imo State House of Assembly, Emeka Nduka, has been sworn in as the new Speaker of the legislature.

His swearing in followed his election during a closed door session presided over by Deputy Speaker, Amarachi Iwuanyanwu after the former Speaker, Kennedy Ibe was impeached.

The new speaker was nominated by the Majority Leader, Mr Kanayo Onyemaechi (APC Owerri West) and seconded by Dr. Uju Onwudiwe (APC Njaba).

With election and swearing in, Nduka has become the fourth speaker of the ninth Imo House following the impeachment of two previous speakers before Ibe’s made them three.

It will be recalled that Ibe was sworn on as speaker on November 8, 2021 following the impeachment of Paul Emeziem and Dr. Chiji in November 2020 for various reasons.
