Factory worker stabs mate to death over N300 in Lagos

AN employee of a factory producing plastics and allied products along Fatai-Atere Street in Mushin, Lagos State, that was identified as Toheeb Kilani has killed Emmanuel Ojo, his co-staff.

Kilani killed his friend by repeatedly stabbing him until he fell down and went into coma during a fight following a misunderstanding over N300.

He was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival by doctor.

According to a Point of Sales (POS) operator in the area, who gave his name as Collins,  both the victim and his assailant, currently on the run, were close friends.

Another resident of the area who sells alcohol drinks packaged in sachets corroborated Collins’ claims, adding that  people initially thought Kilani and Ojo were playing with each other.

“After stabbing his friend, he went home and was later informed that his injured friend died after drinking water. My neighbour thought they were playing but when it got rough, she asked them to leave the premises of her shop. Shortly after, she saw one of them lying on the floor motionless and the other boy ran away. She moved closer and realised that the boy lying on the floor had been stabbed in the neck and was bleeding. The boy died,” Collins said.

Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of Lagos State Command, Benjamin Hundenyin, confirmed the incident and said police have launched manhunt for the fleeing suspect.

“The incident happened around 1pm at Ashabi Street, Mushin, where a fight broke out between Toheeb Kilani and 20-years-old, Emmanuel Ojo. They had a misunderstanding and Kilani stabbed Ojo with an object and he collapsed. Ojo was rushed to the general hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The suspect escaped and efforts to apprehend him are still ongoing,” he said.
