WORRIED by alleged federal government indifferences to the on-going trial of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu in the United Kingdom for alleged organ harvesting, a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Buhari Bala has called for quick intervention and ensure that equitable justice is upheld.

Alhaji Bala in a statement made available to the press expressed anger that the government and informed citizens at all levels have not showered much solidarity with the embattled Ssnator who had served the nation in many capacities.

According to him, that Senator Ekweremadu informed the British High Commission in Abuja of his intentions shows he was not dubious but pushed by the desperation to save his daughter which any reasonable and responsible parent would do.

He cautioned that Ekweremadu should not be allowed go down in the foreign land, stressing that it would send wrong and dangerous signal about the value Nigerians place on patriotism in Nigeria, even as the senator had been patriotic.

“I urge prominent Nigerians and groups to put more pressure on the British Government to see reason why the human angle, rather than extreme legality should guide its action on Ekweremadu”.

“The National Assembly, especially the Senate, where Senator Ekweremadu had served and  shone like a star should bring to bear more influence on their counterpart in United Kingdom, while the Foreign Affairs Ministry should do likewise at the diplomatic level at the earliest possible time, emphasising that Senator Ekweremadu is a serving ranking holder of the Highest National Honours (CFR) and holder of a diplomatic passport. He is also a recipient of Rotary Club’sOutstanding Citizen of The World Award”.
