ONE of the security guards working on the construction site of Ebonyi International Airport, Onueke in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State allegedly beat a 17-year-old pupil, Miss Nwuka Nwafor, to death.

The victim was a Senior Secondary School (SS I) pupil of Izo High School, Onueke, who usually engaged in menial jobs on the construction site while her assailant, who was identified as Chukwuma Anyigor (aka Ite Igwe), was immediately arrested and later handed over to Criminal Investigation Department of  Ebonyi State Police Command, Abakaliki.

A worker at the site said  trouble started when Anyigor ordered Nwafor to pack some corn husks which were dumped along a section of the ongoing airport site but she refused Anyigor’s order, explaining she was the person responsible for the garbage.

According to him, Nwafor’s refusal angered Anyigor who immediately picked up an iron and started clubbing the victim before hitting her on the head when she fell down, fainted and could not make it to Alex Ekwueme University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, where she was confirmed dead on arrival by doctors.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ebonyi State, Chris Anyanwu, said the matter had not been reported to police to avail her with the facts.
