AMID continuing dwindling electricity supply in the country, power distribution companies (DISCOS) and generation companies (GENCOS) have given indications that they will meet federal government’s 5,000MW target before the year runs out.

A source in one of the companies who refused to be named said their consistent improvement in power supply since September 1 justifies their confidence of generating at least 5000MW of electricity as targeted by Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) from August 1.

According to him, while 102,875.3MWh was generated on September 1 with 101,630MWh supplied, this represents 99 per cent of the total generated electricity.

A survey among electricity consumers in Ikorodu, Oke-Afa Isolo, Agbado Lagos, Ire Akari Estate in Lagos State and Harmony Estate along Yakoyo, Berge, Arepo Wawa in Ogun State as well as Abuja showed residents enjoyed an increase in power supply.
