Nkwelle-Ezunaka monarchy: Govt assures due peaceful process

ANAMBRA State Government has expressed commitment towards ensuring that due process is followed in selection of a traditional ruler of Nkwelle-Ezunaka, in Oyi Local Government Area of the state.
The State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Collins Nwabunwanne stated this when some members of the community and some igweship aspirants from Nkwelle-Ezunaka paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Government House, Awka.
Commissioner Nwabunwanne made it known that their visit was apt and assured them that government will look into the matter they presented to ensure peaceful process in the Igweship selection.
He stated that the voice of ndi Nkwelle-Ezunaka must be heard as government does not have any interest in the selection, stressing that the only interest government has was to ensure peaceful transition in the town.
The president general of the town, Areh Onyenze, who appreciated the commissioner for using his good office to return peace in all the warring communities, presented some guidelines the aspirants must follow before being cleared to vie for any position in the town.
They also advocated secret ballot system in the election as well as picking of 10 eligible voters each from the 23 kindreds in Nkwelle Ezunaka.
In their vote of thanks, Ogbuefi John Nwakoby, Ozo Mike Obidike, Ogbuefi Damian and Ogbuefi Ambrose Anachuna, who represented Ogbuefi Obiora Anachuna, among others, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Commissioner Nwabunwanne for restoring peace in Anambra communities praying God to bless and keep them safe.
