A BUS driver identified as Salvation Taylor Harry was gruesomely murdered while eight passengers were abducted in an attack on a commercial bus by gunmen along Abonnema – Emohua- Kalabari road of Rivers State on Saturday night.

According to residents, the bus passengers had taken off from Mile One Park in Port Harcourt with the passenger on a trip to Buguma when the gunmen ambushed them.

The Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Onengiyeofori George, confirmed the attack on the bus, the killing of the driver, as well as the abduction of the passengers.

in a related development, an officer of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Segun Ayebulu, has been shot dead by suspected kidnappers in Ekiti State.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the officer, alongside other passengers was in transit between Oke-Ako and Irele which shares border with Kwara State.

Public Relations Officer of Ekiti Command of NSCDC, Tolu Afolabi, confirmed the incident.

According to him, other passengers in the bus were also abducted and taken to an unknown destination by the bandits.

Similarly, gunmen abducted 32 travellers around Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Saturday.

Residents said the victims were returning from a burial ceremony in Edo State when the incident happened.

Public Relations Officer of Ondo Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the abduction in a telephone chat.

In another development, two suspected terrorists have been killed in Katsina as security operatives make concerted efforts to stamp out banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

The criminals met their waterloo on Sunday as police personnel repelled a terrorist attack in the Kankia Local Government Area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Gambo Isah confirmed the incident in a statement, today.
