TWO bandits died during exchange of gun fire with soldiers along Ekeututu-Ihitte-Nansa Road in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo.

  Director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, stated this in a release issued in Enugu, yesterday.

  Nwachukwu said troops recovered several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) around the areas apart from a locally fabricated rocket launchers liberated from the bandits on the scenes of attack.

  According to Nwachukwu, troops will continue to ensure that there is no safe haven for all criminal elements operating around Orsu and Orsumoghu areas of Imo and Anambra respectively.

  Also, as round-the-clock counter-insurgence patrol intensifies in Anambra State, security operatives recovered operational vehicles, masks, caches of arms and ammunition along Amaokpala-Awgbu highway in Orumba North Local Government Area.

  The items were abandoned by hoodlums after they were overpowered in crossfire with mobile police men.

  Similarly, Benue State Police Command says it arrested three bandits suspected to Boko Haram spies carrying out secret operation in some parts of Makurdi metropolis.

  Police Public Relations Officer of Benue State Command, Catherine Anene, said the suspects were arrested in Logo and Wurukum areas of Makurdi following a tip-off by residents.
