Ebonyi Police confirm killing of three by gunmen

EBONYI State Police Command have confirmed the recent gunshot which resulted in killing of three persons at Galaxy Hotel, Nkwoagu Isu  in Onicha LGA by unknown gunmen in the state.

  Among the people found dead with suspected bullets in the premises were: Augustine Ogbonnaya Nwadiba, the proprietor of the said hotel, an indigene of Mgbom Amanator Isu, Henry Ezeani Chukwu, 43, an indigene of Anambra State purported to be a bouncer to Dr Ifeanyi Chuks Odii, a PDP Guber candidate and Alexander Ekwe Okorie, 52, native of Uhuoke Amanator Isu.

  According to SP Chris Anyanwu , Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abakaliki, “on 24/08/22 at about 2050hrs, gunshot sound was heard around Nkwoagu Isu Market square in Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State.

   “The DPO in charge of the Police Division there despatched a team of police operatives pronto to the area. They traced the direction of the suspected gunfire up to Home Galaxy Hotel, Nkwoagu Isu  where it was eventually discovered that unknown armed men invaded the hotel and opened gunfire on people.

  Anyanwu also disclosed that 11 shells of expended AK47 ammunition were recovered from the scene. He however, said the victims were quickly evacuated to Amagu Mgbom Health Center where they were confirmed dead and later deposited at the Morgue facility of the health center.

  The Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department has embarked on a scrupulous investigation of the incident.

  PPRO Anyanwu urged the general public to join in assisting the security agencies  with reliable information that will help to unravel the case, while  assuring that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
