Says Okpaleke personifies Anambra Spirit

Anambra’s new security template has been lauded for delivering on its mandate particularly on government’s commitment to eradicating terrorist activities in the state.

Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has gave the commendation in his assessment of Anambra State on the occasion to mark the state’s 31st Anniversary on Saturday.

Speaking as head of Anambra delegation to the swearing in of Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke’s as cardinal in Rome, Gov. Soludo said expressed confidence that the new security template will help government in actualising its policy of transforming the state into a livable and prosperous megacity.

Gov. Soludo also describes Okpaleke as symbol of Anambra Spirit, explaining that it takes more than mere resilience for the cardinal to emerge as a global in the Catholic hierarchy despite his didfficult journey in God’s Vineyard.

“Umunne Ndi Anambra, ekene m unu. Today is a special day in the life of our state. Today marks the 31st anniversary since the creation of Anambra State and I bring you felicitations from the St Peters’ Square, Vatican, Rome.

Coincidentally, myself, my wife and a contingent of Ndi Anambra are here to witness the creation of a new Cardinal, one of the two created from Africa is our own brother and worthy son of Anambra State; Bishop Peter Ebele Okpalaeke. It’s quite a coincidence that a new Cardinal from Anambra State is being created exactly today on theaAnniversary of the creation of the state 31 years ago. It’s not a mere coincidence.

There must be something spiritual about it. Today, those of us from Anambra have come to celebrate with him and welcome him as he receives the Red Hat, but also to lift our state up high unto the Lord for his bountiful blessings, not only on the cardinal but on the people of Anambra as we March on to a liveable and prosperous smart mega-city,” Mr. Governor said.
