Gold discovery in Anambra: Fake news, mischief – Govt

CONTRARY to reports making the rounds in social media, a gold reserve estimated at over 20 million tonnes was not discovered in Anambra State.

Describing the report as fake news, yesterday, a release signed on behalf of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, also said contradictions in the report easily gives it out as mere fabrication.

According to Aburime, not only is Ehamufu not located in Anambra State, contrary to the publication but also describing Gov. Soludo as chairman of South East Governors’ Forum is another point to expose the story as make-believe.

“First, Ehamufu is not in Anambra State. Gov. Chukwuma Soludo is not Chairman of South East Governors’ Forum, neither did the governor brief newsmen of any meeting held by the forum or phantom discovery of gold reserves in Ehamufu, Anambra State, as allegedly claimed by the writer(s),” Aburime said.

It will be recalled that the publication also stated that the gold reserve was worth over $900 trillion.
