GOV Charles Soludo’s fight against insecurity in Anambra State has received yet another kudos following the winning of the hosting rights for 2024 Builders’ Conference/Annual General Meeting by the Anambra State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) during the recently concluded 2022 Buiders Conference, held at Akure, the capital city of Ondo State.
In the keenly contested election for the hosting right which featured Kano, Jigawa, Ekiti and Benue State Chapters of the institute, the success stories recorded by the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA ) controlled government of Anambra State in the enhancement of tourism through the development of the International Airport, the world class International Conference and Convention Centre, and particularly, the hope restoring achievements registered through the persevering efforts of the Soludo administration in the fight against insecurity in the area, served the convincing enabler that tilted the votes in favour of NIOB, Anambra State Chapter.
According to Chijioke Okeke, the appointed Chairman of the NIOB, Anambra State Sector for builders in private practice: “Most members at the conference expressed uncommon appreciation for the widely reported professional approaches being applied by Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s administration toward handling the governance challenges in the state, most especially in the perspectives of desired citizen safety and security in the state”.
He stated that the decision of the national conference delegates to honour him, by voting in favour of NIOB, Anambra State Chapter for the 2024 hosting right, serves the significant motivation for the governor to ride higher.
“Against this backdrop, the entire members of NIOB, Anambra State Chapter sincerely congratulate the governor for the exemplary leadership strides and governance style that anchored such pride and national recognition for the state, even unto such high level nationwide image projection and promotion.
“In appreciation of this unique honour bestowed on the entire people of Anambra State, the leadership and members of the Nigerian Institute of Building, Anambra State Chapter, have resolved to reinforce their commitment towards deploying their uniquely essential expertise, as the key professionals in the Built Environment Industry, to excite needed strategies for the realisation of functional building infrastructure delivery initiatives of the state administration, especially as regards vibrant hopes for the achievement of awaited peaceful, prosperous, liveable, and sustainable smart ecosystem as enshrined in the governor’s manifesto and mandate to the people of the state”.
In the same vein, they expressed their expectation for Mr. Governor to activate the provisions of President Mohammadu Buhari’s 2022 Executive Order No. 11 on Public Building Infrastructure Maintenance and accordingly apply same to his on-going policy of urban regeneration as is being demonstrated in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, as well as other towns in our state, and amend the Anambra State Physical Planning Law to particularly recognise and rightfully assign the essential professional roles of builders, as specified by the National Building Code, in order to increase the propensity for achieving a prosperous, peaceful, liveable and collapse free smart city in satisfaction of the noble dreams of his administration.
Okeke in his profound excitement, emphasised that the 2024 AGM, billed to be hosted in Anambra State, offers the government and citizens of the state the benefits of great opportunities for interfacing with professionals, technocrats, and policy makers in the building and real estate sector to the excitement of endearing multiplier effects towards the boosting of the socio-economic fortunes of Anambra State, and properly situating her as the Light of the Nation.
