Use signature projects to attract people to Rotary – Okaro

DISTRICT Governor of District 9142, Rotary International,  Grace Okaro has urged Rotarians to attract new members through quality projects performed by Rotary Clubs in various communities.  

  Rotarian Okaro said this during their Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA), held at Axari Hotel and Suites Calabar, Cross River State, which kicked off with District Expectations among Rotarians, followed by other presentations in order to enlighten Rotarians more on membership growth, public image, and women in Rotary.

  Rotarian Okaro further stated that the district championed for the establishment of signature projects to market Rotary such as the re-usable sanitary pad production, and establishment of bill boards, tagged  ‘People of Action’ in various parts of the district.

  Some of the presentations on public image in terms of marketing strategy include using branding; boosting one’s online presence; best practices in project reporting, using Rotary brand; meeting Rotary obligations and staying in Rotary.

  Rotary Youth Leadership Academy is usually organised annually to expose young people to leadership, vocational and entrepreneurial skills under the discipline of camp life.

  This is to ensure that they develop into wholesome citizens of the world.One of the exciting activities which took place during the seminar was a competition of Mr and Miss RYLA; a session that featured about 12 contestants and was conducted to test their abilities.

  The exercise at its conclusion saw a 19-year old Rotaractor Divine Ejereonye of the Rotaractor Club of Owerri Metropolitan as Mr. RYLA 2022, while a student of Evette Institute, Umuguma, Imo State, Rotaractor Chisom Amuchie of 22 year old emerged as Miss RYLA

  Both winners also received a congratulatory massage from the district governor for their victory who also advised them to use their tenure to promote Rotary values and live exemplary lives even after their reign.

  Some past and present district officers who participated in the seminar were District Trainer and Past District Governor, Rotarian Dan Ajawara, District Governor-Elect, Rotarian Akan Emah, Past District Governor Sam Uko, Past Assitant Governor (PAG) Chimdi Oluoha, PAG Adesegun Tijani, PDS Nonso Epundu, President Simon Orie, PP Dubem Daniels and PAG Jude Chimdi Ohanele, PDG Akabom Enebong, AG Peter Ojie, Rtn. Onyinye Raph Nwachukwu, Rtn. Kaycee Anyanwu, Rtn. Effioug Esu, Rtn. Steve Adie, among many others.
