Guinness empowers 50 women in Imo



GUINNESS Nigeria Plc has empowered 50 women from Umuebie in Isiala Mbano Local Government of Imo State with a mobile bar to help them cushion the effect of hunger and unemployment among women in the area and the state.

  The marketing and innovation director of the company, Mark Mugisha, while disclosing the motive or reason for such gesture during the women’s annual August Meeting of the community, noted that as a brand, it was a way of promoting the culture of the people as a measure to reciprocating their patronage to the company.

  Speaking further on why the company has chosen to facilitate the Annual August Women Meeting, Mr. Mugisha said that the August Meeting is more than an ordinary event, adding that is one event Guinness has chosen to promote both the cultural heritage and assisting the women carry out their intention to assist their husbands and the community they found themselves.

  He hinted that such opportunity becomes golden since it allows the company to be part of long lasting celebration of women who has passion and shown commitment to creating a remarkable impact for the betterment of their community.

  The director said that as a brand, the company feels committed to supporting, empowering and as well celebrating the women in ways most natural to them.

  Earlier, the women also received free medical care from Guinness.

  The women leader in the area, Mrs. Gertrude Onuoha, in her remark at the occasion lauded Guinness Company for sustaining the event that was equally held last year, even as she appealed for more assistance from the company, particularly the renovation of their health centre that is dilapidating.
