Red palm oil lowers cholesterol, slows heart diseases – Report

A new study has said that palm oil has a variety of medicinal uses which apart from being used as an antidote for poison, cure for gonorrhea, a natural laxative, a diuretic, and a treatment for headaches and skin infections, palm oil has shown properties of calories from fat and fatty acid that reduces cholesterol and slows heart disease.

The study was which was published in Journal of United States Department of Agriculture, today, was credited to Tan et al. (2021).

Explaining that their finding was conducted on one tablespoon (14 grams) of palm oil, it stated that each specimen approximately contain 50 per cent saturated fat, 40 per cent fatty acids, 10 per cent monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

The study also explains that red palm oil’s reddish-orange pigment emanates from antioxidants known as carotenoids, including beta carotene, which the body can convert into vitamin A.

The finding further debunks the claims that red oil is controversial when it comes to cooking oils.
